Paolo Ferraina’s shots on human isolation, interpreted at Covid-19 time - With his 26
years he is the youngest photographer to publish with the Giorgio Mondadori editorial.
Polite, discreet, respectful: Paolo Ferraina, with his presence, almost counteracts the power of
his shots. Or, to put it in the words of the art critic and essayist Luca Nannipieri, of his “shoots”.
This is precisely the metaphor that he uses in the introduction to the photographic volume
“Human islands” (Giorgio Mondadori, 2019), edited by himself, in which he writes: “When there
is talent, it shoots. Paolo Ferraina’s photographic talent does just that: shoot. [...] The author
“loves to photograph human beings and through his first editorial work intends to focus on the
concept of “isolation”, proposing a series of shots that, from multiple perspectives, highlight the
man’s ability to detach himself from everyday life.” The volume, released in November, collects
Paolo’s gaze in 45 shots on artistic, documentary and social cross-sections, in various parts
