lso this notebook of Treviso drawings, like the
Aothers, was made largely by me on the spot,
walking through the streets, bridges and arcades of the
historic center between 2017 and 2018 when, on the oc-
casion of the candidacy for the great annual exhibition
of the association “Pencils on the road”, I had decided
to pay homage to the magnificent town of the Veneto
that hosts me by dedicating a complex job, which after
a short time became a book entitled “Treviso - Poetry
within the walls”, published by the Venetian publishing
house El squero in 2018. In recent years I have drawn
on dozens of notebooks, around Italy and also abroad,
I have participated in dedicated exhibitions, creative fe-
stivals and workshops. The technique I prefer is ink and
watercolor drawing on small format notebooks. Some-
times I write short texts accompanying the drawings,
with information on the places visited or impressions
of the moment. Not infrequently I let the color enhance
only some parts of the drawing, the ones I am intere-
sted in highlighting, leaving the periphery of the page
in black and white. It is a journey through images to
discover an enchanting historic center, nestled on the
Veneto plain and enclosed within ancient walls as if in
a treasure chest. Epochs and styles chase each other
among the pages of this notebook, whose drawings de-
licately reveal the frescoes of the buildings, the melody
of the waterways, the poetry of bridges and arcades.
The accurate sign of the nib and the transparency of the
watercolor tell the fundamental stages of a millenary
and glorious history, all to be discovered, preserved and
handed down. I don’t think it’s easy to design the place
