remember and enhance such varied
and rich roots and traditions. On the
other hand the area of “Terre locridee” is
a candidate for City of Culture 2023, an
interesting opportunity. The project on
which Patrizia Papandrea is currently
working starts from the research and
study of some ancient naval maps:
from here comes the collection that will
have the Mediterranean as its central
theme, such as the silk dress-foulard
to rediscover the maps of the Turkish
admiral Piri Re’is, author in the sixteenth
century of a portolan and a world map
now preserved in the Topkapi Museum
in Istanbul. Fashion, then, becomes a
tool that conveys history to tell the story
of a distant past that has linked the East
to the West and has marked the culture
of all peoples. An arduous project, that
of Patrizia Pandrea: to involve, through
her creations, the largest number of
people on cultural issues. A project of
fashion and craftsmanship to promote
culture as a way of life.
