Precisely stone has also been the first
resource through which man has set
up a shy and rudimentary concept of
home. The constructions made with
this material represented the first
“shelters” to shelter from bad weather
or from enemy attacks. From the caves
to the first buildings in irregular stone
blocks, the evolution of the buildings
has followed the course of human
history, and even today, as I said, its
charm is unrivaled. So every time I
meet one during my walks, I can only
stop to explore it, to photograph it,
to try to grasp its history, to imagine
its life, to dream of adventures, to
reconstruct its historical and family
events between probable realities and
intriguing fantasies, its original use. In
this photographic reportage, therefore,
I propose a small taste of what has
been said and of the many and varied
sensations that these landscapes have
aroused, with the hope of being able to
transmit them to anyone who observes
these images. One day I intend to collect
everything in a much more complete
volume.
