y drawings? Good question. They
Mcome to me at once, when I look at
something that amazes me. And there
are many things, although not always
clearly visible: a shape, an object, com-
positional games, symmetries or asym-
metries; I prefer the latter because in
them I recognize real life, everything
that helps me to reflect and express a
content. However, as soon as I begin to
draw the lines with my pen, I look with
the rigor due to the concept in the first
place, what I want to express. I like to
“say” with drawing and not “tell”. I
use the image to communicate what I
think. I am fascinated by processes like
the one in the drawing I called “The
strength of life” in which, metapho-
rically, I express the importance of a
journey, of our life journey. Here the
red house with the smoking chimney,
the warmth of the house, of the family,
it expresses the true sense of the force
of life. In the “Roman Forum” drawing
the size of the period is expressed, in-
tentionally represented by the mari-
time pine rather than the ruins. It is
like reversing the meaning of things
thus representing what we live every
day. “Porto Marghera” is a canvas in
which the theme of the industrial gran-
deur of the place, which has generated
work and wealth but also many pains
and deaths, is paradoxically indicated
by the pink color of the sky. Abnormal
in that context, “pink” becomes a wish
and a hope of rebirth of the area. In the
drawing “My Place” and in the “Win-
dows” one, I try instead to express the
need to observe. The window for me is
a privileged place, the passage between
inside and outside and from here you
