sea and wind. The barometer began to fall on the eve-
ning we docked in Malaga. From Malaga we took the sea
the next evening. A fiery sunset with dozens of dolphins
leaping to the side of the hull in our same direction and
with our same gait. A fairytale company. Behind, howe-
ver, you could see, in the distance, the black cloud that
followed us from the east. We crossed the Strait of Gibral-
tar at night, winning a counter current that entered from
the ocean at almost four knots of speed, favored only
by an ugly wind that reached us behind. After passing
the Pillars of Hercules, we veered to starboard, heading
north, towards Cadiz. The stormy wind arrived on the
starboard beam, all of a sudden, with more and more su-
stained gusts. Now in the vicinity of Cadiz, the storm was
over with all its violence, and we entered the mooring
space just in time, before the pandemonium took place
outside in the ocean. In the small port of Cadiz many bo-
ats at anchor have been thrown against the rocks by the
fury of the wind.
Throughout the rest of the day and the following night,
the storm raged with unprecedented violence. But we
were safe now and heard the hiss of the wind while we
were eating shrimp and grilled fish in a tavern accompa-
nied by a perfect local wine.
